Did You Know

  1. In the state of Colorado, it is a traffic violation to drive with a crack in the line of sight on your windshield.
  2. Most insurance companies will waive your deductible to repair a rock chip, since it is much less expensive to repair a chip before it spreads into a crack.
  3. You can use any auto glass company you want, as long as they are pre-approved to do insurance claims. They will process the claim for you. Insurance companies cannot legally require you to use any company in particular.
  4. The frequently used industry term “OEM Quality” does NOT guarantee that a windshield is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). Beware of this misleading sales pitch.
  5. Even the term "OEM" only means that the Original Equipment Manufacturer made the part; however, an OEM part is manufactured to a lower standard than the Original Equipment that was installed in the new vehicle, termed "OE." We can install OE at your request, but OE parts are much more expensive, as they must be purchased from the dealer.
  1. Not only are cracks in your windshield unsightly and a driving nuisance, but they also compromise the safety of your vehicle in an accident.
  2. Repairing a rock chip is the "Green" alternative. If a chip spreads into a long crack, it cannot be repaired, and the windshield must be replaced. Replacements are more costly - time, energy, and material-wise, so prolonging the life of your existing windshield is best.
  3. Not all auto glass installers are the same! If you have ever seen rust around the edge of a windshield, this is because a previous installer did not use primer paint on the vehicle after cutting out the old windshield. This is unfortunately a common corner-cutting, time-saving measure. The resulting corrosion may not be evident until years later. Just because an installation looks good upon completion does not mean it is a proper installation. A good installer will prime EVERY vehicle, whether it seems necessary or not.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have no idea why Company so-and-so is charging what they're charging, but here are some general facts:
Each auto glass service provider has different costs and overhead. Some have only mobile service, and 1 van, and may not be insured against incidental damages to your vehicle. Other companies have several shops and several employees. Each company also has a different policy for when problems happen. Some companies do not warranty their work, whereas others will make an extra trip or two to make sure everything is done right. Different companies also have different profit margins they are willing to accept. Finally, each company also receives different pricing from their glass vendors, which can greatly affect their price to you, the end customer.

We have to pay our glass vendors a lot more for, say, a Mercedes windshield than for a Ford windshield, and that cost gets passed on to you, the end customer. It’s an unfortunate yet logical fact: expensive cars require expensive parts. In addition, taking apart a Mercedes requires more time than a Ford, which translates into a higher labor cost.

On the other hand, some less expensive cars can also have higher-priced windshields; for example, if they are a complex shape, such as a wrap-around windshield. Our quotes are based on the price we have to pay to obtain the glass, and therefore, could change from one week to the next.

No, as of September 2, 2023, we only have a Lakewood location. Any other location or phone number claiming to be Absolute Auto Glass is NOT us. If the van and the technician’s uniform don’t have our logo, it’s some other company with a different reputation.
